One way to feed your need to shop without taxing the environment is to buy stuff used. I make it a point to cruise my local thrift stores -- and I don't mean upscale vintage establishments, I mean true Salvation Army style thrift stores -- frequently, whether I'm looking for something I really need, like a replacement coffee pot, or just looking for a fun purchase. Since I live in L.A., yard sales are also a great source for me, and are held virtually year-round.

I am going to start posting some of my finds here to see if I can inspire you to follow in my footsteps!

Stuff Ya *Do* Want

Me with umbrella

The score: This large, leather tipped umbrella with unknown advertising slogan.
The price: $3.00
The story: I see these really nice quality non-travel size umbrellas all the time, and vowed I would finally get myself one next time I spotted a good one. It works so much better than those crappy ones you buy every time it rains. Big enough to share with a friend!
